I’m 59 years young today. There has been many turns in the road and burned a few bridges. However never loosing my since of humor . I’ve often said, “I’d be happy if I was in jail.”

Remember we are hurling through space on a rock. That simple perspective gives me enough in my cup to float my boat.

Laughter is the best prescription.

I found myself at Ballard’s Rehabilitation Center in San Bernardino Ca. Two years before I found out a week before Christmas while i was entertaining as Santa at a Bass Pro Shop in Auburn NY.  that my Diabetes  had erupted in my right foot. When the smoke had settled i had lost my five toes on my right foot.

This day I was two weeks into the hospital and 2 hours away from my beloved. I created this videos one everyday  for twelve days in a row.  and the lesson here is no matter what is coming at you as long as you laugh … you will always have the best prescription at your finger tips.

Real Laughter

God will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. (Job 8:21)cropped-promo1-1.jpg

Ponder It.
When was the last time you laughed so hard your cheeks or stomach hurt? What was so funny?
How would you describe your sense of humor?
In what situations do you find yourself laughing inappropriately – thinking something is funny that is probably not?

Receive It.
We all need to laugh. Laughter relaxes us. We celebrate through laughter. We express ourselves through laughter. We relate to others through laughter. Consider how laughter can be authentic. We could define authentic laughter as anything that’s not fake. Such a simple definition would help us delineate between what we laugh at “for real” and what we laugh at to be polite or included or when we laugh because we’re nervous and don’t know what else to do. However, let’s consider authentic laughter in the context of authenticity “being exactly and actually what is claimed to be.” If you claim to be a Christ-follower, authentic laughter will always honor God. That means if something doesn’t honor God, it’s not funny – no matter what you’ve been raised to believe otherwise, what habits you’ve developed, and what you rationalize as funny. Laughter is about fully enjoying what God has given us. He didn’t gift us with laughter so we could use it to celebrate or support anything contrary to His will. That doesn’t mean Christians have to be serious all the time. There’s plenty of joy in God’s world to fully celebrate with side-splitting laughter! When we laugh at what is not God-honoring, we’re robbing ourselves of the joy God intends for us.

When you find yourself rationalizing your laughter at a movie, television show, or real life situation, reconsider your motivation. Consider one thing when wondering whether or not you should laugh at something: “If it nailed Jesus to the cross, it’s not funny.” In other words, if it’s not God-honoring, it’s not funny.

Live It. Invite laughter into your day. Look around you and fully experience the joy God is giving you. Share laughter with others. If you find yourself laughing inappropriately, choose today to form new, more God-honoring habits.

All paths lead toward the light with Laughter Brain Training

He had a wonderful opportunity to take our Rolling Laughter Brain Training on the road this weekend to Antelope Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Lancaster, Ca.

“All paths lead toward the light”

When walking into a fresh space and realizing that this is also a safe place. allowing you to become willing to understand the dynamics of the human condition that brings everyone in the room.

Laughter is the Best Medicine. We begin each session with going inward in ourselves to check where we are at. On a scale of one to ten I was a five. The room felt like a two and a half. The leader of the group was Roxie Patterson, a long time community activist, we had first met doing our live podcast show, “YOUNG LOVE AFTER 50” at our local health food store, The Whole Wheatery .  This fifty something adorned with peace symbol earrings asked us about a week ago to share Laughter Yoga with a Sunday gathering at the Church.

A gathering of some fifteen willing souls to do something new, something positive, and something life changing, is so exciting it plugs me into the moment, living in the now.

My Beloved has the most powerful tongue i have ever felt. Marva leads the group through meditation and than through self discovery we all become closer and closer. The most important elements in this exchange is to bring your child like playfulness, your willingness to make eye contact, and your loving self  to each other.

I did, or tempted , Stand-up Comedy for over twenty-five years at he highest level in LA through the Comedy Store. Every performance was a life or death experience,. I had to get into every audience members cognizant mind and some how touch the same thread of humor i was feeling.

However the application of Laughter Yoga, or as we call it LAUGHTER BRAIN TRAINING, IS REALLY THE TRUEST WAY TO ACHIVE a balance in body chemicals  to lowers stress, unrestricted blood flow and clamming of you body temperature giving you a better precipitin of humanity.

Let yourself experience the joys of life through Laughter yoga… you won’t be sorry… are you smiling right now?

How Humour and Laughter affects the brain

by Susan in About Laughter

Humor perception involves the whole brain and serves to integrate and balance activity in both hemispheres.

Derks, at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, has shown that there is a unique pattern of brain wave activity during the perception of humor. EEG’s were recorded on subjects while they were presented with humorous material.

Laughter truly is the best medicine!

During the setup to the joke, the cortex’s left hemisphere began its analytical function of processing words. Shortly afterward, most of the brain activity moved to the frontal lobe which is the center of emotionality. Moments later the right hemisphere’s synthesis capabilities joined with the left’s processing to find the pattern — to ‘get the joke’.

A few milliseconds later, before the subject had enough time to laugh, the increased brain wave activity spread to the sensory processing areas of the brain, the occipital lobe. The increased fluctuations in delta waves reached a crescendo of activity and crested as the brain ‘got’ the joke and the external expression of laughter began. More about how stress affects our brain right here.

Derks’ findings shows that humor pulls the various parts of the brain together rather than activating a component in only one area. Your sense of humor provides a powerful antidote to immuno-suppressive effects of stress in two ways, through:

  1. Direct effects of humor and laughter upon the immune system,
  2. Indirect effects resulting from humor’s ability to help you cope on the tough days.

The simple truth is that happy people generally don’t get sick.

Laughter Yoga Report on CNN

http://www.laughteryoga.org This is a short piece by Dr Sanjay Gupta of CNN Health about Laughter Yoga and Dr Madan Kataria

The core philosophy of Laughter Yoga is not that of seeking happiness, but of cultivating joy. Happiness is a concept of the mind, dependent on a variety of scenarios all of which, for the most part, are fleeting – once achieved or obtained, that which was sought to bring happiness, waxes cold. Completely happy people are a rarity. Conversely, joy can be triggered by the simplest of physical activities, such as singing, dancing, playing or laughing all of which are the basic tenets of Laughter Yoga.

Children are born with the basic elements of joy intact; unfortunately, as we age, joy is lost to inhibitions and self-consciousness that often limit participation in joyful activities. A Laughter Club can bring those elements back, making singing, dancing, playing and laughing easier within a safe environment. Once your body knows what to do, practicing the same “happy” exercises alone will become even easier.

Astrological Musings & More

New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon, Last Quarter…the Moon is the closest celestial body to the Earth. Its effects can both be felt and seen by the inhabitants of this blue planet of ours. Tides rise and fall, people become overly emotional then sullen, our physical bodies experience the effects as does the Earth itself with earthquakes being more likely.

I’m an astrologer but I’m also a Wiccan. We live close to Nature and observe the signs given by the natural events taking place. We recognize that these changes are also changes in the energy that surrounds us. When the Moon is moving from New to Full, the energy is increasing. The light from the Moon is actually reflected sunlight and, while the Moon may be just a planet to some, from an energy perspective, the Moon is reflecting our emotions to us.

You can learn and begin to understand a lot about yourself with the knowledge of what sign the Moon was in when you were born. The information gleaned there can help you understand what affect the phases of the Moon may be having on you.

Why should that matter? Why should you care? To me, knowledge is power. In this case, it gives you the opportunity to take better control of the emotional side of your life through a better understanding of your actions and responses to people and situations. Better choices can be made which offers the opportunity for more peace in ones life. Who wouldn’t want that?

As you become familiar with your own Moon sign, you will begin to understand how, as the Moon passes through its phases and the zodiac signs, it affects you personally. Instead of being adrift in this tide of lunar energy, you now will have an awareness that allows you steer a more steady course through your life. You will have empowered yourself emotionally. Awesome!

So, as we head to the first Full Moon of 2015, know that you can manifest a more stable emotional course for yourself simply by knowing your Moon sign and learning what effects the Moon can have on you. Pretty cool, huh?

Mercury in Aquarius 2Before we get to that first Full Moon, we have Mercury transiting into Aquarius on Sunday, January 4th at 8:08 p.m. EST.

The energies of this placement create minds that are open to new experience. Aquarius being impersonal allows the mind to be unbiased, truthful and objective. Ideas become very original, unconventional even.

Mercury in Aquarius manifests the highest intuitive ability due to an easy connection to the Universal Mind, going beyond the limits of the individual ego.

Mental energy is stabilized and concentrated allowing for the possibility of telepathy occurring. This is an excellent time for astrology and occult study of any kind.

This is a time to seek mental stimulation through friendship and the company of intellectual and elderly persons.

Wolf MoonThen we have that Full Moon, sometimes referred to as the Wolf Moon, that will be occurring in the sign of Cancer on Sunday, January 4th at 11:53 p.m. EST.

Here, the Moon is in the sign it rules making it a very emotional, intuitive energy. This is a time to express ones true feelings. It’s time to stop repressing anything you have been holding onto for far too long.

The Full Moon allows us to bring this to a head as the Moon prepares to wane, thus clearing the path ahead of obstacles that may be holding us back. One thing that holds most of us back is our unexpressed feelings. This first Full Moon is calling us to clear our energy fields and our bodies of all those things we have kept hidden. Let go, so life can flow.

There is a nurturing energy with Moon in Cancer. Just be sure it doesn’t turn to smothering and possessiveness. Like many things in life, there is a delicate balance that needs to be achieved here.

This is also a passive, easy-going energy. While this can be very good in many situations, there are other situations where action is needed. Don’t allow this energy to stop your forward motion, if action is required.

If your natal Moon is in Cancer or you just feel the effects of this Full Moon, be prepared to express yourself and to instinctively know when that needs to happen. Don’t hold back. It’s time to speak up and let your feelings flow.

Mars in PiscesMars will go into Pisces on Monday, January 12th at 5:21 a.m. EST., a difficult placement for this fiery planet.

It’s not an aggressive energy, actually suggesting shyness. While the energy does create kindness, good listeners and a forgiving nature, it also can cause those influenced by it to too easily swayed by others. It can also create a fear of the unknown or aimless wandering with no goals. Emotions are unpredictable with ecstatic highs and depressive lows.

Alcohol and drugs should be used with care during this transit, especially if you have Mars in Pisces or just feel the effects of this transit.

Psychology, anything creative or any form of the occult can be very motivating now.
