What is Laughter Yoga & How can it help you?!

In today’s world, people want to be healthy, they want to be happy, but instead they are getting stressed out , depressed, getting less sleep, more negative thoughts and feeling isolated. Does this sound like you? Are you someone who wants to move on and bring more laughter and joy into your life? You are in the right place. Laughter Yoga is a revolutionary idea – simple and profound. An exercise routine, it is sweeping the world and is a complete wellbeing workout. Developed by a medical doctor from India, Dr. Madan Kataria, it has spread across 72 countries. Proof laughter IS contagious….

 5 Benefits of Laughter Yoga

Good Mood and More Laughter: Laughter Yoga helps to change your mood within minutes by releasing certain chemicals from your brain cells called endorphins. You will remain cheerful and in a good mood throughout the day and will laugh more than you normally do.

Healthy Exercise to Beat Stress: Laughter Yoga is like an aerobic exercise (cardio workout) which brings more oxygen to the body and brain thereby making one feel more energetic and relaxed.

Health Benefits: Laughter Yoga reduces the stress and strengthens the immune system. You will not fall sick easily and if you have some chronic health conditions, you

will heal faster.

Quality of Life: Laughter is a positive energy which helps people to connect with other people quickly and improves relationships. If you laugh more, you will attract many

friends.

Positive Attitude in Challenging Times : Everyone can laugh when life is good, but how does one laugh when faced with challenges? Laughter helps to create a positive mental state to deal with negative situations and negative people. It gives hope and optimism to

cope with difficult times.

All paths lead toward the light with Laughter Brain Training

He had a wonderful opportunity to take our Rolling Laughter Brain Training on the road this weekend to Antelope Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Lancaster, Ca.

“All paths lead toward the light”

When walking into a fresh space and realizing that this is also a safe place. allowing you to become willing to understand the dynamics of the human condition that brings everyone in the room.

Laughter is the Best Medicine. We begin each session with going inward in ourselves to check where we are at. On a scale of one to ten I was a five. The room felt like a two and a half. The leader of the group was Roxie Patterson, a long time community activist, we had first met doing our live podcast show, “YOUNG LOVE AFTER 50” at our local health food store, The Whole Wheatery .  This fifty something adorned with peace symbol earrings asked us about a week ago to share Laughter Yoga with a Sunday gathering at the Church.

A gathering of some fifteen willing souls to do something new, something positive, and something life changing, is so exciting it plugs me into the moment, living in the now.

My Beloved has the most powerful tongue i have ever felt. Marva leads the group through meditation and than through self discovery we all become closer and closer. The most important elements in this exchange is to bring your child like playfulness, your willingness to make eye contact, and your loving self  to each other.

I did, or tempted , Stand-up Comedy for over twenty-five years at he highest level in LA through the Comedy Store. Every performance was a life or death experience,. I had to get into every audience members cognizant mind and some how touch the same thread of humor i was feeling.

However the application of Laughter Yoga, or as we call it LAUGHTER BRAIN TRAINING, IS REALLY THE TRUEST WAY TO ACHIVE a balance in body chemicals  to lowers stress, unrestricted blood flow and clamming of you body temperature giving you a better precipitin of humanity.

Let yourself experience the joys of life through Laughter yoga… you won’t be sorry… are you smiling right now?

Astrological Musings & More

New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon, Last Quarter…the Moon is the closest celestial body to the Earth. Its effects can both be felt and seen by the inhabitants of this blue planet of ours. Tides rise and fall, people become overly emotional then sullen, our physical bodies experience the effects as does the Earth itself with earthquakes being more likely.

I’m an astrologer but I’m also a Wiccan. We live close to Nature and observe the signs given by the natural events taking place. We recognize that these changes are also changes in the energy that surrounds us. When the Moon is moving from New to Full, the energy is increasing. The light from the Moon is actually reflected sunlight and, while the Moon may be just a planet to some, from an energy perspective, the Moon is reflecting our emotions to us.

You can learn and begin to understand a lot about yourself with the knowledge of what sign the Moon was in when you were born. The information gleaned there can help you understand what affect the phases of the Moon may be having on you.

Why should that matter? Why should you care? To me, knowledge is power. In this case, it gives you the opportunity to take better control of the emotional side of your life through a better understanding of your actions and responses to people and situations. Better choices can be made which offers the opportunity for more peace in ones life. Who wouldn’t want that?

As you become familiar with your own Moon sign, you will begin to understand how, as the Moon passes through its phases and the zodiac signs, it affects you personally. Instead of being adrift in this tide of lunar energy, you now will have an awareness that allows you steer a more steady course through your life. You will have empowered yourself emotionally. Awesome!

So, as we head to the first Full Moon of 2015, know that you can manifest a more stable emotional course for yourself simply by knowing your Moon sign and learning what effects the Moon can have on you. Pretty cool, huh?

Mercury in Aquarius 2Before we get to that first Full Moon, we have Mercury transiting into Aquarius on Sunday, January 4th at 8:08 p.m. EST.

The energies of this placement create minds that are open to new experience. Aquarius being impersonal allows the mind to be unbiased, truthful and objective. Ideas become very original, unconventional even.

Mercury in Aquarius manifests the highest intuitive ability due to an easy connection to the Universal Mind, going beyond the limits of the individual ego.

Mental energy is stabilized and concentrated allowing for the possibility of telepathy occurring. This is an excellent time for astrology and occult study of any kind.

This is a time to seek mental stimulation through friendship and the company of intellectual and elderly persons.

Wolf MoonThen we have that Full Moon, sometimes referred to as the Wolf Moon, that will be occurring in the sign of Cancer on Sunday, January 4th at 11:53 p.m. EST.

Here, the Moon is in the sign it rules making it a very emotional, intuitive energy. This is a time to express ones true feelings. It’s time to stop repressing anything you have been holding onto for far too long.

The Full Moon allows us to bring this to a head as the Moon prepares to wane, thus clearing the path ahead of obstacles that may be holding us back. One thing that holds most of us back is our unexpressed feelings. This first Full Moon is calling us to clear our energy fields and our bodies of all those things we have kept hidden. Let go, so life can flow.

There is a nurturing energy with Moon in Cancer. Just be sure it doesn’t turn to smothering and possessiveness. Like many things in life, there is a delicate balance that needs to be achieved here.

This is also a passive, easy-going energy. While this can be very good in many situations, there are other situations where action is needed. Don’t allow this energy to stop your forward motion, if action is required.

If your natal Moon is in Cancer or you just feel the effects of this Full Moon, be prepared to express yourself and to instinctively know when that needs to happen. Don’t hold back. It’s time to speak up and let your feelings flow.

Mars in PiscesMars will go into Pisces on Monday, January 12th at 5:21 a.m. EST., a difficult placement for this fiery planet.

It’s not an aggressive energy, actually suggesting shyness. While the energy does create kindness, good listeners and a forgiving nature, it also can cause those influenced by it to too easily swayed by others. It can also create a fear of the unknown or aimless wandering with no goals. Emotions are unpredictable with ecstatic highs and depressive lows.

Alcohol and drugs should be used with care during this transit, especially if you have Mars in Pisces or just feel the effects of this transit.

Psychology, anything creative or any form of the occult can be very motivating now.

Establishing Rolling Laughter Hour at the Whole Wheatery

http://www.lolheals.com During Laughter Yoga, exercises stimulate blood circulation, raising the blood pressure for a period before it comes back below the base level. The muscles contract during a Laughter Session before they come back to their Relaxation Mode. Consequently, the real benefits of Laughter Yoga do not occur during the stimulation phase, but become apparent after the Laughter Session, during relaxation.
Some groups incorporate light Physical Exercises between bouts of Laughter, especially when Laughter Clubs meet in the morning for Seniors and special groups. The Physical Exercises chosen may promote mobility through Stretching, ease Cervical Spondylosis, Neck Stiffness and Frozen Shoulder, and other common complaints of Seniors. Some Laughter Yoga groups perform Laughter Exercises in a more energetic way and develop high energy exercises (like power Yoga). This can be invigorating with very high levels of energy being generated. Thank you again Jeffrey Briar

Breathing with Laughter Yoga and Marva Greenleaf

http://www.lolheals.com/
Breathing is fundamental to good health. It is responsible for almost all the oxygen and energy supply. Scientific studies have shown a direct connect between breathing and the state of mind. Incorrect breathing can cause several physical and mental complications such as asthma, allergies, hypertension, depression, anxiety, exhaustion, headaches, heart problems, sleep trouble, obesity, stress, lack of vision and clarity plus many lesser known but equally harmful conditions. All diseases are caused or worsened by poor breathing.

Rolling laughter Hour Beginning Laughter Exercises With Marva Greenleaf

http://wwwlolheals.com Research suggests that the simple act of laughing is a powerful form of complementary medicine. Until now, there has been no reliable and effective system to deliver laughter. Humor was the only tool available, but it is not reliable and seldom leads to continuous hearty laughter.
Laughter Yoga is a breakthrough laughter delivery system that enables a person to laugh continuously for 15 to 20 minutes with short breaks of yogic breathing.
Below are 20 Laughter Yoga exercises to get you started. Try to practice them with others and appreciate that they are indeed highly incongruous. And choosing to laugh as and when you want to is not a sign of silliness, it’s a sign of maturity.
These exercises will shift your mood state if you give them a chance for at least 10 minutes.
5 Classic Laughter Yoga Exercises
Cell Phone Laughter: Hold an imaginary cell phone to your ear and laugh.
Gradient Laughter: Fake a smile; giggle, then laugh slowly and gradually increase in tempo and volume.
Greeting Laughter: Greet everybody the way you normally greet (e.g. shake hands) and replace words with laughter.
Hearty Laughter: Spread your arms up, look up and laugh heartily as you direct your laughter to come straight from your heart.
Think of a socially awkward situation and laugh at it (e.g. shoe laces untied, shaving cream behind your ears…)

Value-Based Laughter Exercises with Marva Greenleaf

http://www.lolheals.com Marva shares Value-Based Laughter Exercises – Appreciation Laughter, Greeting Laughter, and Forgiveness Laughter are popular. once again thank you Jeffrey Briar — with AntelopeValley Florist and 2 others at The Whole Wheatery.

CULTIVATE 4 ELEMENTS OF JOY

CULTIVATE 4 ELEMENTS OF JOY
The core philosophy of Laughter Yoga is not that of seeking happiness, but of cultivating joy. Happiness is a concept of the mind, dependent on a variety of scenarios all of which, for the most part, are fleeting – once achieved or obtained, that which was sought to bring happiness, waxes cold. Completely happy people are a rarity. Conversely, joy can be triggered by the simplest of physical activities, such as singing, dancing, playing or laughing all of which are the basic tenets of Laughter Yoga.

Children are born with the basic elements of joy intact; unfortunately, as we age, joy is lost to inhibitions and self-consciousness that often limit participation in joyful activities. A Laughter Club can bring those elements back, making singing, dancing, playing and laughing easier within a safe environment. Once your body knows what to do, practicing the same “happy” exercises alone will become even easier.

Meditation and Laughter Yoga with Marva Greenleaf

http://lolheals.com
After Laughter Meditation, energy levels can be too high to return directly to normal. To reduce these levels the leader may talk the group through Guided Relaxation, also called ‘YOGA NIDRA’, or Yogic Sleep. This guided body tour brings immense Relaxation by bringing complete awareness to different parts of the body as guided by the Laughter Leader. There is no fixed route or sequence.
